Capturing the San Juan Islands

A Glimpse of the San Juan Islands
Meet Val
The summer of 1997 brought me to San Juan Island - just for the summer. The return trip home that fall turned into a U-turn, right back to the place I knew was home.
My camera has always been close by - the 48,000 photos on my phone alone are testament to this, and those are just from the last 15 years. The beauty of the islands catches me at every turn, whether it is a trip on the ferry, a quiet, meditative walk down the docks at sunrise, or sitting on the shoreline on the west side at sunset. From beautiful, springy mosses to the eye-catching interface of a dock and the water’s edge, I feel like I am always “framing” what I experience in this extraordinary place that I get to call home.
